Iga Świątek broke her silence in Paris. "Everyone asks me about it"

The "Queen of Paris" has won the tournament at Roland Garros four times. Iga Świątek triumphed for the first time in the French capital in 2020. Then the Polish woman won three times in a row, in the 2022, 2023 and 2024 editions.
Iga Świątek is honest about her perfectionism. The Pole admitted it directlyThis time, the Pole came to Paris not as a leader or vice-leader of the WTA ranking, but as the number 5 player in the world. It is possible that such a lack of ranking pressure will have a positive effect on the Pole. Although, on the other hand, Świątek has a lot of points to defend for last year's victory.
One thing is certain. Świątek wants to change her approach and approach the competition with a less obvious desire to do everything perfectly. What has happened in recent years – i.e. the dominance of the Pole – is the past and now we have to find ourselves in new realities. And these are not bad for Świątek at all, because we are still talking about the world's top tennis player. Plus, it is not certain that Świątek will not be able to climb to the top again. However, this will be a consequence of successive, gradually achieved goals.
"I don't think it's impossible not to be a perfectionist, but there are definitely ways to control it a little bit more. Lately, when I've been making mistakes on the court, I've been focusing on them too much. I thought I was working on them, but it was more like getting deeper into them and having to figure it out myself, even though my team was telling me that was what was happening. I don't know, I just thought I was working on it and that's how you do it. Perfectionism has been a little harder the last few weeks, but honestly, it's not the first time. It's probably the first time I've talked about it so much because everyone's been asking me about it, so I'm working on it. It's an ongoing process," the defending champion admitted during Friday's press conference .
It is worth adding that the main tournament in Paris will feature three Polish singles players. Apart from Świątek, these will be Magdalena Fręch and Magda Linette. Meanwhile, Kamil Majchrzak and Hubert Hurkacz will play among the men.
In the qualifications in Paris, the following lost: Maja Chwalińska and Katarzyna Kawa (both in the second round) and Linda Klimovicova. The latter, born in the Czech Olomouc, but representing Poland, lost at the last level of qualifications, in the third round.
